Before starting towards Lachen, we visit Tsomgo Lake and pay our respects at Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. The locals believe that Gurudongmar Lake is a manifestation of Lord Guru Padmasambhava's (Guru Rinpoche's) divine powers, and its waters have healing properties and the ability to grant wishes.
The other must-visit town in North Sikkim is Lachung, home to the ancient Lachung Monastery and the uninhabited Yumthang Valley. This place is famous for rhododendron flowers and healing hot water springs. Those who want to experience the thrill of high-altitude driving can take a cab to the Yumthang Valley Zero Point as well!
Opposite to these dry, tranquil cities is the green and bubbly atmosphere of Pelling. It is home to the stunning Pemayangtse Monastery which houses amazing artefacts and ancient Buddhist paintings and scrolls.
